DARLING SITTING STEIFF VELVET CAT WITH BUTTON AND WHITE EAR TAG.

Cat is sitting, unjointed, and made from white velvet which has been painted with tan, brown, and black stripes. Her face is detailed with black shoebutton eyes, a tiny pink hand-embroidered nose and mouth, and clear monofilament whiskers. She wears a tiny bow and bell which probably are original to her. This early and beloved design was made in white and grey mohair in 5 sizes overall from 1899 through 1927. This is a wonderful example with a distinctly old fashioned look to her. Cat retains her tiny trailing “F” Steiff button and her fully legible white ear tag as her Steiff IDs. SIZE: Overall 4″ t (10cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection.
