MID-1920s WHITE MOHAIR STEIFF RATTLE BEAR.Teddy is jointed 5-ways and made from short white mohair with no hand or foot pads or claw stitching. Teddy’s face is detailed with brown and black glass pupil eyes and hand stitched brown nose and mouth. Teddy’s rattle was made by inserting a hollow tube with beads into the bear’s torso and is still functional. Teddy retains its long trailing “F” Steiff button as its ID. Through the 1920s Steiff occasionally created rattle versions of its most popular toys in their small size. Other examples include cats, rabbits and squirrels. SIZE: Overall 5″ t (13cm). Sitting 4″ t (10cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Slight rusting of button and a tiny touch of play wear.
