EARLY AND GLORIOUSLY COLORED LARGE STEIFF “CONE NOSE” BEAR WITH BUTTON.Circa 1906, 5-ways jointed, apricot mohair teddy bear. Teddy has early and traditional Steiff proportions including long arms with spoon shaped paws, long and narrow feet, a very pronounced back hump, and a hand sewn closure seam up his belly. Bear has five black hand-embroidered claws on each paw. Teddy’s distinctive face is detailed with black shoebutton eyes and a black hand embroidered nose and mouth. You can see a touch of the brown felt under layer beneath the nose. His muzzle is unshaven and has a distinctive pointed quality to it. Teddy retains his small trailing “F” button as his Steiff ID. This bear would add a ray of sunshine to any room. SIZE: Overall 28″ t (70cm). Sitting 18″ t (46cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Professional restoration to all paw pads and repairs to ankles. Slight mohair thinning around eyes.
