*SUPERB AND RARELY OFFERED SAVAGE M1907 TRIALS PISTOL.

SN 159. Cal. 45 ACP. Made to compete against the Colt 45 Automatic for U.S. Government contracts. This is SN 159 of the few trials pistols that were shipped in 1907 to Springfield Armory in Springfield, MA. After the trials ended, the guns were returned to Savage and refurbished. SN 159 was then sold to E.K. Tryon Co. of Philadelphia, PA, on April 14, 1922. The magazine that it was with has the SN of gun no. 110 on back as obviously no attempt was made to keep the orig components together. Accompanying this offering is a factory letter from this Historian of Savage Arms dated May of 2008. CONDITION: Excellent overall as factory refinished. A light matte grey finish with 2-pc checkered walnut stocks. Stocks are slightly oil soaked with light wear but no cracks or material loss. Trigger has most case color finish remaining.
