*WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LIGHTWEIGHT TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE.

SN 129398. Cal. 45-70. Standard grade rifle with 24″ tapered extra light rnd bbl, half magazine, takedown with pedestal mounted “certifiable antique ivory” bead Lyman hunting front sight, Lyman 6-A two leaf folding rear sight & Lyman combination tang sight. Bbl is marked “NICKEL STEEL” on bbl over chamber area. Mounted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut, straight stock with Winchester trademark embossed hard rubber buttplate. This rifle was produced in about 1903 when the daily use of firearms was commonplace both for hunting & self-protection. Firearms of that era usually saw hard service & are rarely found today with high orig finish. Special Note: This item contains or is made of ivory. Overall retains about 99% crisp orig factory finish with only a couple of tiny little nicks on receiver. Blue is crisp and bright and case colors on lever & hammer are brilliant. Wood is sound with a very few, very small handling & storage nicks & scratches & retains virtually all of its bright orig finish. Mechanics are crisp. Brilliant shiny bore.
