LOVELY CLASSIC EARLY 1920s WHITE MOHAIR STEIFF BEAR WITH BUTTON.

Teddy is stuffed with excelsior and is 5-ways jointed. Made from white mohair which has become slightly tan over time. Teddy has long arms with spoon shaped paws, long narrow feet and pronounced back hump. Four claws on each paw. Bear’s face is detailed with brown and black glass pupil eyes and a hand-embroidered brown nose and mouth, which has faded slightly over time. Bear retains its small trailing “F” in ear as her Steiff identification. Non-working growler. Bear has a lovely and wistful expression. SIZE: Overall 20″ t (50cm). Sitting 13″ t (33cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Right paw pad with small hole that has been professionally repaired. Possible seam repair on right ankle.
