*COLT COMMERCIAL POST-WAR CIRCA 1950 COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL C SUFFIXED SERIAL NUMBER 247171-C,” PROPERTY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK”.

SN 247171-C. Cal. 45. One of 250 pistols sent to the New York Guard. Notched rear sight, serrated ramp wide front sight. Grooved blued slide stop. Grooved thumb safety, flat sided checkered hammer and grooved trigger, grooved mainspring housing. Plastic stocks with Colt logo embossed. Note: these stocks shrank and often broke due to shrinkage. Right hand slide marked “COLT’S MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A.” above “PROPERTY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK.” Right receiver marked “247171-C”. Left receiver marked “Q” and verified proof on upper trigger guard bow. Left slide marked “GOVERNMENT” over “MODEL” followed by “COLT” followed by “AUTOMATIC” over “CALIBER 45” followed by a “RAMPANT COLT”. Magazine marked on baseplate “COLT” over “45 AUTO”. Small “c” in top left corner. “RAMPANT COLT” on tongue. No lanyard loop on grooved mainspring housing. CONDITION: Orig bbl was standard Colt commercial finished in white through ejection port marked “COLT .45 AUTO”. Bbl marked “45 AUTO” over “7791199” hard chrome lined with right lug marked “MA” and left lug marked “M P”. Front and rear grip straps thin, dust cover thin. Thinning on front top of slide.
