EARLY STEIFF BEAR WITH BUTTON.

Circa 1910 early and charming 5-ways jointed Steiff bear made from gold mohair. Bear has typical proportions of the period including long arms with spoon shaped wrists and paws, large feet and pronounced back hump, and felt paw pads. Face is detailed with black shoebutton eyes and a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth. Four black claws on each paw and foot. Small trailing “F” button is somewhat unusually placed on the back side of the ear. A wonderful and soulful expression. SIZE: Overall 21″ t (52cm). Sitting 14″ t (36cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Collar is not original. Minor mohair loss on face and limbs. Paw pads have been carefully and professionally restored.
