FOUR CUT OVERLAY SNUFF BOTTLES.

China, Qing Dynasty. The lot comprising of four glass snuff bottles each with cut overlay design in various motifs. The smallest bottle accompanied by a carved wood stand. SIZE: Ranging 2-1/2″ h to 2-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: Estate of a Midwestern Public University Chancellor who died in the late 1930’s. This Chancellor was invited to speak in China in 1930s, possibly at Beijing University, and we are told that this item was an honorarium or purchase from that visit. CONDITION: The bottle with elephant design with significant breaks around top rim and stopper, stopper glued down.
