*COLLECTOR’S LOT OF TWO EUROPEAN HANDGUNS. STAR MODEL B AND FACTORY ENGRAVED 1951 BERETTA.

1) STAR MODEL B. SN B396170. Cal. 9mm. Right side of slide unmarked, left side marked “Star B. Echeverria/Fibar-Espana S.A Cal. 9m.m.”, “170” at rear of slide over proof mark. Slide stop, thumb safety, bbl, bbl bushing marked “170”. Left rear of slide has “P” proof mark, receiver left side below slide stop has proof mark and inspector mark. Front grip strap marked “LPN”. Receiver marked “659” above mainspring housing, “P” proof and “Cal. OS” visible through ejection port. Mag marked “170” followed by “1” (number 1 mag). Accompanied by holster marked “LPN” with spare mag marked “170 2″ (number 2 mag). PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Most of the blue remains with muzzle and high edge wear. Trigger, hammer, and bbl opening left in-the-white. Mag is fully blued turning plum. Bore is shiny. Holster in very good + condition. C&R 2) BERETTA 1951 PARABELLUM. SN 35338. Cal .9mm. Standard config Beretta 1951 with 4.5” bbl, having fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Right side of slide marked with two line Beretta address denoting “MOD 1951” and address in Italy. Left side of frame is importer marked “Berben NY NY”. Right side of frame has SN “35338” and directed rotation for the disassembly lever. At least 70% of the visible surface has been nicely engraved with floral scroll. Lesser accents appearing over crest of bbl, under trigger guard and on front strap. Major components were then gold-plated including grip screws while disassembly lever, slide release, safety, mag release and hammer were salt-blued. Standard black plastic serrated grips. Mag with an in the white body having seven indicator holes and gold plated finger extension base. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Pistol presents as nearly new with only small patch of flaked gold plate on right tang. There are no scratches on either side of trigger nor is there any appreciable wear on front face of hammer to suggest much contact with retracting slide. Grips in equally good condition with right panel having a few minor scuffs. A fantastic gold engraved Beretta 1951 that should please any collector. C&R 51517-18, 51517-30 (5,000-6,000) – Lot 3053
