The medallion marked on the edge “18kt. Gold M”. M indicating the time period when this was made by Tiffany (1907-1947). The inscription on the back “TO/ERNEST A. COSTAIN IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION/OF THIRTY YEARS SERVICES/TO THE/ZOOLOGICAL STUDY/1929”. The bottom of the back marked “Tiffany & Co”. The front having a central relief of a ram’s head below which is “founded 1895” below which is a spread-wing American Eagle and the words New York Zoological Society surrounding the medallion. Housed in its original dark brown gold trim hinged box, marked “Tiffany & Co/New York/Paris-London”. That also contained in a cardboard box marked the same in as found condition. SIZE: 1-3/4″ d.
