SMALL SIZE STEIFF PURPLE VELVET BEGGING RABBIT WITH MUSTER BUTTON.A most interesting Steiff rabbit with a “Muster” (German for “pattern”) button, indicating that he was a sample and never designed to leave the factory. Rabbit is head jointed, made from lilac and tan colored velvet, and is in a begging position. His ears are lined in wire and are posable. Face is detailed with black and brown glass pupil eyes and a red hand-embroidered nose and mouth. Interior of ears are lightly airbrushed in pink. Rabbit appears to have his original bow and bell, which has been reinforced with yellow thread. Rabbit retains his trailing “F” button and red ear tag with the article number written in by hand in left ear and the Muster button in his right ear. This item was produced in 11, 15 & 18cm in a number of jewel like tones from 1927 through 1932. SIZE: Overall 6″ t (14.5cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection.
