INTERESTING WATERCOLOR HIGHLIGHTED HUNTING PHOTOGRAPH.

Last half of the 19th Century. The large size photograph pasted to cardstock with watercolored highlights to men & background. Seven men are seen with their hunting rifles & shotguns with two hunting dogs sleeping at their feet. A mountain and lake landscape is shown in the background. Housed in an Eastlake designed frame behind glass with deep mat (mat with stains). A handwritten statement titled “Adirondack Museum Appraisal” indicates that this photo is a hand painted images taken in a studio. The photographer was Abner B. Gardner of Utica, NY, an established photographer in 1876, Utica City Directory. Gardner later became partners with Frey and together they specialized in hand colored photographs.
