SCARCE VICHY BLOCK BANJO PLAYER AUTOMATON.

Early piece with composition head, hands, and lower legs. The realistically modeled boy has an open mouth with six upper teeth, blinking glass eyes (functioning but may need some attention), mohair wig, and original clothing. When wound, the boy strums the banjo with his right hand, right leg moves up and down tapping in time with the music, and head moves up, down and around in gentle circular motion. SIZE: Overall including seat: 22″ t (55cm). Figure seated: 16″ t (41cm). PROVENANCE: The Estate of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Very good, other than deterioration to silk trousers and cap.
