GERMAN CARVED WHISTLER FIGURE TOGETHER WITH “SANTEE CLAUS” SHEET TIN CLOCKWORK TOY SLEIGH.

Second quarter 20th century, Germany and America. 1) Of German manufacture (stamped on bottom). Wind-up display depicts mustachioed barkeep pouring a shot while he whistles a tune and moves his head left and right. 2) Ferdinand Strauss Corp., lithographed tin, depicts Santa riding open sleigh pulled by two reindeer. Clockwork driven. 10 3/4″ l. SIZE: 1) 13-3/4″ h. 2) 11-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Morris Racker. CONDITION: 1) Figure with normal and expected light soiling with nice patina. Whistling music box operational when wound but in need of adjustment as it appears stuck. 2) Graphics on sleigh and figures remain very crisp with minimal and minor surface scratches on edges.
