CIRCA 1906 STEIFF BEAR WITH BUTTON.

Teddy is 5-ways jointed and made from cinnamon colored mohair, which is still vibrant in his joints. He is 5-ways jointed and has tan pads with five black hand-embroidered claws evident on each paw. He has typical early Steiff proportions including long arms with spoon shaped paws, long and narrow feet, and a pronounced back hump. Teddy’s face is detailed with black shoebutton eyes and a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth, which has faded in part to brown over time. A kind and gentle looking bear who was clearly someone’s childhood companion many years ago. Teddy retains his training “F” button as his Steiff ID. SIZE: Overall 16″ t (40cm). Sitting 10-1/2″ (26cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. CONDITION: Holes and foxing on both foot pads; restoration on both hand pads. Light mohair thinning, especially on bear’s back. Otherwise very good. 1-13840 (2,500-4,000) – Lot 3007
