China, 19th c. Both lacquer and gilt storage boxes have similar octagonal shape and overall design. The smaller box depicts a court scene on top, with tin cans inside for tea storage. The larger box depicts a scene in the garden, with compartments inside for sewing tools and materials. SIZE: Small: 12″ l x 9″ w x 6″ h. Large: 14-1/4″ l x 11″ w x 6″ h.
