RARE “ARE YOU A BUFFALO?” BELL TOY.

Fresh from a Midwestern home and produced by the famed Gong Bell Toy Company in the latter part of the 19th century. This toy depicts a buffalo standing on top of the world while questioning if you are a member of the Great Association of Buffaloes. A finely cast iron base with simulated wooden branches. The base cast with the number 57 which corresponds to the catalog/item number in the Gong Bell catalog. Handsomely enameled in silver with a brown buffalo & blue “globe”. When pulled along the floor the buffalo would turn right to left while swinging the bell in his mouth. Due to the frailty of the iron casting it is very difficult to find this toy in complete and undamaged condition such as this example! SIZE: 5-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus. 51956-4 (2,000-4,000) – Lot 3005
