GROUP OF FOUR CAST-IRON MECHANICAL BANKS INCLUDING NEW CREEDMOOR BANK, INDIAN AND BEAR, CREEDMOOR BANK, AND WILLIAM TELL.1) New Creedmoor Mechanical Bank. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co., ca. 1877. Pull the coin launcher back into position. Place the coin in front of the launcher and press the foot. The coin is fired into the tree. 2) Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company, Cromwell, Connecticut, circa 1885. Base cast with “PATD JAN 17 1888.” Bank lock impressed “PATD FEB 2 1875.” Cock the rifle and place a coin flat on the barrel. Pull the lever towards you and the Indian shoots the bear in the chest with the coin. 3) Classic bank made by the J. & E. Stevens Company of Cromwell, Connecticut, circa 1877. Cock the rifle and place a coin on the rifle barrel. Press the soldier’s right foot and coin is shot into the tree. 4) J & E Stevens Co., designed by Russell Frisbee, patented 6/23/1896. Place a coin in the proper position on the barrel of the rifle. Press the right foot and the rifle shoots the apple from the boy’s head. As the coin enters the castle it strikes a bell. SIZE: 1) 7″ h X 10″ l. 2) 7-1/2″ h x 10-1/2″ l. 3) 6-1/2″ h x 10″ l. 4) 6-3/4″ h x 10-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Morris Racker. CONDITION: All banks functional and with original paint surfaces. All with varying degrees of abrasion and in use wear.
