**WORLD WAR II BROWNING M2 50 CALIBER MACHINE GUN WITH RARE ORIGINAL FAIRCHILD SIGHT (CURIO & RELIC).

SN 1144967. Cal. 50 BMG. Bbl is 50″ with flash hider. This gun was manufactured by the High Standard Manufacturing Company and saw combat during WWII as evidenced by a bullet strike to the perforated socket that the bbl fits into. There are other marks on this gun consistent with it seeing service in a combat area. Included is an orig Central Steel Tube Co, 1944 dated M2 tripod. Flash hider is attached to the muzzle of the bbl as well as a steel wire bail carrying handle. Orig M1 telescopic sight manufactured by Fairchild Aviation Corporation and dated 1941 is included with this lot. Numbers match between receiver and top receiver plate. Walnut handles appear to be of correct vintage. Firing mechanism operates properly with good stiff tension. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This item is fully transferable on an ATF Form 3 or Form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish very good with over 80% coverage turning a gray brown patina with bullet strike as noted as well as some dings & gouges at the high edges. Bore is extremely fine, shiny & bright. Optics are clear. Tripod is in fine orig condition with data plate intact. WWII 50 cal. machine guns are uncommon and to find one manufactured by High Standard is exceedingly rare. Even if I had a Browning .50 already I would consider consigning a post WWII gun to upgrade to this historic collectors item. 50455-1 JWK33 (25,000-45,000) C&R – Lot 3003
