RARE MURRAY MISSISSIPPI RIFLE. NSN. Cal. .58, 33″ round bbl. Marked “W.C.X” on the right side in front of the bolster and “AW /P” on the right side. A faint “V / P / eagle” is at the very rear. A cutting, possibly from a Bannerman catalogue is varnished to the stock. The stock has “W.C.K” and “L.H” inspector marks on the left side. The inside of the patchbox is stamped “J.L.R”. There is a hole for a spare nipple. CONDITION: Rust brown patina with heavy pitting at the breech of the bbl. The lock has a splotchy appearance. The “J.P. MURRAY / COLUMBUS GA” marking in front of the hammer is very sharp. The hammer screw is a replacement. The brass has a mellow patina. The wood is fine with light dents and scratches with a couple of chips missing around the lock. 4-46571 FS241 (10,000-15,000)
