TWO JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS BY HOKUSAI.1) 19th century. “Elephant and Blind Men” from Hokusai’s “Manga” (“Sketches From Life”), printed in 1817, well centered and toned example. 2) “Under the Great Wave Off Kanagawa” from the series “36 Views of Mount Fuji”, very nice crisp and rich image, uncertain of age. SIZE: 1) Two sheet surimono tate-e. Block size overall 7″ x 10″, 17.78cm x 25.4cm. 2) ōban. Block size 9-3/4″ x 14-1/2″, 24.77cm x 36.83cm. PROVENANCE: From a Maine collection.
