Second quarter 19th Century, New England. 1) This birch example with square top and hinged rectangular leaves above a conforming frieze. Fitted with a bank of two drawers with rounded fronts. Raised on tapering cylindrical ring-turned legs terminating in turnip feet. The whole in a red wash. 2) The rectangular top with hinged D-formed leaves above a conforming apron. Fitted with a bank of two drawers. Raised on ring-turned cylindrical legs, terminating in ball feet with ringed cuffs. SIZE: 1) Height: 29″ Top: 18″ X 18″ 2) Height: 29″ Top: 17″ closed x 23″ deep CONDITION: Both tables with worn and dry red wash surfaces and with abrasions and scratches throughout. The first retains original wood knobs, the second with replaced knobs.
