EDWARDIAN OAK MARBLE TOP COMMODE TOGETHER WITH AMERICAN CARVED MAHOGANY MIRROR BACK SERVER.First quarter 20th century, England and New England. The commode with breschia pink and gray marble top with 3/4 splash guard, beneath a marble shelf to which is affixed a rectangular mirror frame, with carved floral panels, within molded borders centering a rectangular beveled mirror plate. The cabinet with a pair of aligned drawers above a pair of floral carved drawers. The mahogany server with rectangular case and double serpentine front edge fitted with a pair of conforming aligned short drawers above a long straight drawer, raised on frontal Cabriole legs and straight tapered rear legs, joined to a medial shelf with shaped molded edge. The server is mounted with a rectangular molded back centering a beveled mirror plate flanked by shaped candle shelves on foliate carved hour-glass supports. SIZE: 68″ overall h x 41″ w x 18″ d. 47″ overall h x 42″ w x 19″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved. CONDITION: The first all original with cleaned surface. Very good overall. The second, with cleaned and re-polished surface. Original brass hardware and mirror plate with no restoration or damages noted.
