WILLIAM AND MARY OAK JOINT STOOL, TOGETHER WITH A JACOBEAN STYLE LOW BENCH.

18th and 19th centuries, England. The joint stool with rectangular top and beveled edge pinned above a conforming frieze with notch carved band. Raised on block and baluster turned legs, joined by rectangular box stretcher. The rectangular early 19th century bench in Jacobean style retaining early, if not original 18th century tapestry fragment raised on ring-and baluster-turned legs joined by a baluster-turned box stretcher. SIZE: Stool 21-1/2″ h x 19-1/2″ l x 11″ w Bench 15-1/2″ h x 31″ l x 16″ w CONDITION: Stool with original surface. Apron legs and stretchers appear original. Top retains original pins with some later nails. Generally good commensurate with age. Tapestry covering on bench in as found condition. Seat frame weak and in need of tightening. Stretchers with old shrinkage cracks. Legs with repairs and reassembled. Otherwise fair. 51437-8 (700-900) – Lot 2605
