WINCHESTER HOTCHKISS 3RD MODEL MUSKET. Cal. 45-70. Usual configuration with 28″ round bbl, square based front sight, musket rear sight, case colored receiver, long forearm with bayonet lug at the front end and 2 bbl bands. Buttstock has straight grip and smooth carbine style buttplate. Top tang is marked “MODEL OF 1883”. SN 81838. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbl retains 93-95% strong original blue. Receiver 50-60% case colors, brilliant in sheltered areas with the balance turned gray. Wood is sound and retains most of its original finish with minor nicks and scratches.
