EARLY AMERICAN LADDERBACK CHAIR.New England, 2nd quarter 19th century. The small example in original dark green paint. The three arched splats joined to bobbin-turned stiles, headed by spool finials. The trapezoidal seat frame with woven splint seat raised on cylindrical legs joined by conforming double box stretcher. SIZE: 37-1/2″ h x 18″ w. 14″ seat h. PROVENANCE: Estate of Siro R. Toffolon, of Old Lyme, CT. CONDITION: Structurally very good, woven seat original with areas of loss due to weakness throughout. Surfaces with good patina. 49488-5 (75-125) – Lot 2553
