CHIPPENDALE WALNUT LOOKING GLASS.3rd quarter 18th century. The rectangular beveled glass mirror plate within a molded gilt slip within a shape molded frame. The scrolled crest with molded and carved pierced shell with bellflower castings above a scrolled pendant apron. SIZE: 43-1/2″ h x 22″ w. PROVENANCE: Estate of Siro R. Toffolon, of Old Lyme, CT. CONDITION: Original mirror plate and backboard. Old shrinkage cracks in walnut veneers. Early restoration and reattachment to extremities of pierced crest.
