QUEEN ANNE WALNUT TILT TOP BIRDCAGE TEA TABLE.Third quarter 18th century, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. The circular dish top with chamfered and molded edge of figured walnut joined to a birdcage support rotating and tilting on a swelled cylindrical ring-turned pedestal raised on a tripod cabriole base, each leg carved with a lappet continuing to a slender ankle terminating in a pad platform foot. SIZE: 28″ h x 32-1/2″ to 33″ dia. CONDITION: Overall with old surface and mellow patina, the top with medial shrinkage split, a trapezoidal 3″ patch at outer edge, a diagonal shrinkage split with old splice patch repair 6″ x 1/2″ and an additional insignificant shrinkage crack now stabilized.
