EARLY AMERICAN BIRCH LADDERBACK ARM CHAIR.

First quarter 19th Century New England. Four arched slats joined to cylindrical ball-turned stile, surmounted by tall shaped knopped finials. Joined to sloping arms with notched down-turned grips centering a trapezoidal rush seat. Raised on turned frontal legs, the rear legs cylindrical, joined by double box stretcher. The chair with remnants of original red/brown paint. SIZE: Height at back: 47″ Height of seat: 16″ Overall width: 24″ CONDITION: Structurally very good. Painted surfaces mostly stripped.
