FEDERAL INLAID CHERRY CHEST OF DRAWERS.First quarter 19th Century, possibly North Carolina. Rectangular case with applied edge molding above the conforming case fitted with four graduated long drawers, each with incised edges, string inlaid borders, and inlaid shield form escutcheons on a molded base. Raised on block-and ring-turned cylindrical legs with ringed cuffs tapering to slender feet, centered with deeply scalloped and shaped apron with oval brasses stamped with fruit filled cornucopia of the period but not original to chest. SIZE: Height: 45″ Overall width: 42-1/2″ Depth: 22-1/2″ CONDITION: Chest retains original cleaned surface. Minor blemishes along edge of top, additionally small shrinkage crack in top, now stabilized. A shrinkage crack on each case side. Backboards original, as are legs. 49922-64 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2526
