TWO DRAWER LIFT TOP DECORATED BLANKET CHEST.

First half 19th Century, New England coast. The birch chest, with oak and pine secondary wood, with hinged rectangular lid with applied molding opening to a well. The case with two simulated thumb molded drawers above two conforming long drawers, all with simulated string inlaid borders. The whole raised on frontal French feet, centering a shaped apron. SIZE: Height: 39-1/2″ Length: 40-1/4″ Depth: 19-3/4″. CONDITION: Blanket chest retains original surface, now age darkened, with soiling. Brass batwing hardware of later vintage mostly absent.
