FINE FEDERAL TRANSITIONAL CARVED MAHOGANY SETTEE.First quarter 19th Century, Hartford, Connecticut, attributed to Kneeland & Adams. The rolled crest rail with rosette terminals continuing to down sloping reeded arm supports carved with graceful leafy fronds, joined to ribbon tied water leaf drapery, continuing to scrolled handgrips on colonette urn-formed supports carved with water leaves, centering the rectangular overupholstered seat. Raised on tapering reeded cylindrical frontal legs with ringed cuffs, raised on brass capped castors. The rear legs back swept on castors. Settee is offered with fully exposed frame. SIZE: Height of back: 37-1/2″ Length: 71-1/2″ Approx depth: 26″ CONDITION: Exposed finished surfaces original, now age darkened with good patina. Crestrail with old stress break at juncture to arms beneath bowtied ribbon. Visible is a diagonal type fracture with no splintering or missing elements. 49922-46 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2522
