CHIPPENDALE TRAY TOP CANDLESTAND IN BLACK FINISH.Last quarter 18th Century, New England. The square chamfered tray top with applied molded edge joined to a swell-turned pedestal raised on cabriole legs terminating in slender ridged platform pad feet. The candlestand in black paint with delicate gold decoration, of the Sheraton period. SIZE: Height: 27″ Top: 17-1/4″ x 17-1/2″ CONDITION: Candlestand has no visible areas of damage or restoration. Early sheet iron triangular cleat beneath the standard. Table top with old shrinkage crack now stabilized under paint. Paint loss to edge of tray top.
