THOMAS H EGAN (American, Mid 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF EDWARD MANN OF CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, 1836.

Oil on canvas half portrait shows a handsome young man dressed in a black coat, white vest and shirt. He sits in a red upholstered chair and is beside an opening with a waterfall view. Inscribed on verso “Edward Mann/Presented this his likeness, To/Mr. and Mrs. Leavinworth/as a _ _ of perpetual gratitude to/them for their kindness to him during his apprenticeship/Thos. H. Egan Pinx 1836”. Housed in a period flat mahogany veneered frame.
