RARE SET OF EIGHT “PURITAN” LADDERBACK SIDE CHAIRS.

Late 18th early 19th Century New England. Each chair with three arched slats joined to cylindrical ball-turned stiles surmounted by a knopped ball finial above trapezoidal woven rush seat, raised on cylindrical legs, joined by a double block stretcher. SIZE: Height of back: 37-1/2″ Height of seats: 16-1/2″ Overall width: 18″ CONDITION: Four chairs with old red paint over earlier green over original black. Four chairs stripped of paint and repolished. Structurally good, one with replaced woven seat. 49922-34 (1,500-2,500) – Lot 2488
