FINE LOUIS XV STYLE GILTWOOD CONSOLE.

Mid 19th century, France. Rectangular top with molded edge above the conforming frieze, the upper edge of carved guilloches, above a central cartouche flanked by similar cartouches all within carved scrolling foliate borders in high relief. The sides similarly carved. The whole raised on delicate cabriole legs terminating in sabots with scrolled volutes. The legs joined by a trestle stretcher applied with half spherules centering a classic urn form finial. We believe that the current top, although fitted to the console, likely not original. The original more likely to have been Carrera marble. SIZE: 38″ h x 47″ l x 20″ d. CONDITION: Table has been re-gilded. Some small restorations to leaf tips throughout, minor in nature.
