GOOD PAIR OF DIRECTOIRE STYLE MARBLE TOP TALL CHESTS.

Early 20th century, France. Each chest fitted with an inset white marble top, within a rosewood frame with half-round ormolu edging, cast with leaf tips above the conforming case fitted with eight long drawers. Each drawer with cicassion burl walnut veneer panels within cross banded rosewood borders, the applied cast-ormolu edging and fitted with oval ribbon tied escutcheons and cast-brass bails with floral rondels. The flanking pilasters similarly veneered, headed by classical revival cast-metal mounts. The whole on a molded plinth with ormolu trim, the apron with central drop pendant with cast-metal mount raised on tapered ring-turned feet. SIZE: 50″ h x 27-3/4″ w of case x 14-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved.
