*WINCHESTER MODEL 52B SPORTER BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

SN 70039B. Cal. 22. Usual configuration with 24″ tapered rnd bbl, hooded ramp front sight and Lyman Model 48 receiver sight with target knobs. Receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases with filler screws in the holes. Bolt body is numbered to the receiver. Floorplate is stamped sheet metal marked “SPORTING”. Mounted in a straight grain American walnut 1-pc halfstock with black forend tip and diamond checkered forestock with capped pistol grip and checkered steel buttplate. Bottom of the stock has deluxe swivel bases with deluxe swivels. Accompanied by one orig 5 round .22LR magazine. This model was Winchesters finest sporting and target rifle introduced in about 1940 and remained in production until about 1947, and discontinued with the advent of the Model 52C Sporter. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, all matching. Bbl and receiver retain about 98% crisp orig blue, showing only faint sharp edge wear. Trigger guard and floorplate retain about 98% glossy orig blue with 2 or 3 small nicks. Buttstock has an old chip by the heel, otherwise wood is sound. Bolt has a scope clearance ground spot on the handle shank. Mechanics are crisp. Bright shiny bore. 49432-21 JR C&R (4,000-7,000) – Lot 2452
