*RARE 1ST YEAR OF PRODUCTION SKEET GRADE WINCHESTER MODEL 42 PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN.SN 994. Cal. 410. Fine, deluxe 42 with 28″ plain bbl marked “SKEET” and for 3″ shells. Mounted with nicely figured, American walnut with large deluxe rnd forearm, that has checkered side panels and straight stock with Winchester trademark hard rubber buttplate. This early skeet grade was introduced in about 1933 and offered with plain bbl until 1938. Other skeet grade Model 42 shotguns were offered, but with either solid or ventilated rib, making this a very rare Winchester shotgun. Few survive today in completely orig configuration with orig finish. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains about 99% crisp orig finish with strong bright blue and orig oil finish on stocks with bright, crisp checkering. Left side of receiver has a light surface mar. Mechanics are crisp.
