B.A. BREMOND MARQUETRY INLAID CYLINDER MUSICAL BOX WITH BELLS.

The rosewood case has banded inlaid borders, an ebonized oval medallion centers the lid with colorful flowers, filigree and scrolls. The front having an inlaid scroll decorated escutcheon. The ebonized underside of the lid retains the original 8 music tune card. A glass paneled dust cover opens to reveal a levered ratchet winding arm, with a two-piece silver comb that plays from a 13″ long gilt finished cylinder. Nine of the comb teeth are designated for the nest of 9 engraved silver finished steel bells that are set on a horizontal cross post. Made by B.A. Bremond, Geneva, Circa 1880, Ser. No. 17516. The box has been recently serviced & refurbished. It retains a copy of a Certificate of Authenticity dated 1987 from A.S. Lewis of Herrods Limited. BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE. SIZE: 10″ h x 23″ l x 11″ d. CONDITION: The 13″ cylinder drum has been damaged and some of the pins have been flattened. Otherwise this is in very good, restored condition. It is still playable.
