SCARCE HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ANSON DEELEY PATENT GAME GUN.SN 928. Cal. 10 bore. 3″ Chambers. These scarce guns are made in Worcester, MA under license from Westley Richards. This excellent example has 30″ bold figured two stripe Damascus bbls with dolls head extension. Concave top rib is engraved “HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A.” Bbl flats are stamped with SN. Case hardened action is stamped on water table “ANSON & DEELEY’S” “PAT. FEB 1 1876 No” and with use no 928. Action has nicely filed beads around fences in typical Westley style. Engraving is only of geometric borders and star-bursts on screws. Lightly streaked and figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14″ over hard rubber buttplate with spur, which is embossed with checkering, scroll, and “H & R”. It appears that this stock was made by David Kirkwood, renowned gunmaker of Boston, Mass. Matching splinter forend has inset hard rubber tip and Deeley release. Bore diameter: left -.774, right -.775. Bore restrictions: left -.049 (extra full), right -.049 (extra full). Wall thickness: left -.046, right -.050. Drop at heel: 2-15/16″, drop at comb: 1-11/16″. Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz. LOP: 14”. Special Note: This item contains or is made of ivory. This information is located in the front section of our catalog. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain over 80% of their orig brown with excellent definition to pattern. Action retains approx 85 – 90% orig case hardening color, thinned and silvering around bottom and around fences from normal hand wear. Top lever retains over 90% of its orig blue. Floorplate retains approx 70% of its orig bright blue, most loss due to flaking. Trigger guard is silvered on edges at bow, flaking and silvered at grip. Stocks retain nearly all of their orig rubbed oil finish with numerous light handling marks and scratches, some fairly deep on right side of butt. Bores are excellent with a some light frosting.
