OUTSTANDING 1961 FENDER STRATOCASTER ELECTRIC GUITAR WITH SUNBURST FINISH & ORIGINAL CASE.

Pencil inscribed neck dated “12/61” and pencil inscribed body date “12/61”. The original case with orange/rust color interior, original whammy bar present. The back plate with serial number “72336”. The Stratocaster was played by a number of notable guitarists including Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughn & Jimi Hendrix. NOTE: When researching this guitar a specialist was consulted and we believe, for the first time, the neck and body were taken apart to expose the pencil dates and originality of the piece. At this time we took several photographs and these photographs are available upon request. SIZE: 38-1/2″ l. Case: 40″ x 14″. CONDITION: Normal, in use wear, probably original frets, replaced keys & nut heads. Generally very good. At the time of inspection we did not test the sound. 51135-1 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 2394
