TABRIZ ORIENTAL CARPET, NORTH PERSIA.

Second quarter 20th century. The central poled arabesque medallion with intricate scrolling floral vinery placed within a field woven with intricate floral branches within conforming spandrels. The main border wrought with large floral cartouche joined by intricate foliate vinery and trelliswork. The whole in a subdued muted palette of earth tones resulting from chemical treatment. SIZE: 11′ 6″ x 16′ 6″. CONDITION: Overall even wear throughout, areas of wear to the foundation evident throughout the main field, general light soiling with some spot pulls in weave, chemically treated as noted, the original finish appears to have included variations of brown, green, and blues on a rose red ground. 51321-14 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 2388
