FIGURED CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY BOWFRONT CHEST OF DRAWERS.

Circa 1785, New England. A high quality mahogany Chippendale bowfront of diminutive size and inspired design. Figured mahogany and mahogany veneers with white pine and yellow poplar secondary woods. SIZE: 32-1/4″ h x 35-1/2″ w x 18″ d at side of case CONDITION: Generally good with recent refinish. Two fish tale responds on base restored. Some color added to bracket base but appears to be original elements. One vertical glueblock missing on rear brace. Brasses replaced. Small strip replaced to backboards at base. Some re-nailing of backboards and drawer bottoms. Very small repair to top at proper right rear corner. Interior of drawers finished with shellac. 51376-36 (3,500-4,500) – Lot 2386
