CHIPPENDALE DROP LEAF TABLE.

Third quarter 18th century. The rectangular top with conforming hinged leaves projecting above the rectangular apron raised on square legs with molded chamfered edges. The opposing corner legs with gates for leaf support. This swing-leg example is composed of birch, poplar, and mahogany. SIZE: 29″ h x 17″ w x 48″ long closed. 46-1/2″ x 48″ open. PROVENANCE: Maralyn Young estate, Arundel/Falmouth Maine, being sold unreserved. CONDITION: The table with mostly original surface and considerable in-use wear, most notably a large scorch mark in the center of one leaf, made by a standing hot iron. 51412-27 (500-800) – Lot 2385
