FINE BRASS INLAID ROSEWOOD LAP DESK ON STAND.

First half 19th century, probably England. The hinged rectangular top with central scrolling foliate brass cartouche engraved in script “M.B.L.G./SOUVENIR“; within a scrolling floral foliate border. The lid opening to an interior fitted with original baise lined writing surface, inkwells and pen tray. The front with conforming brass inlays, the desk sides fitted with campaign style recessed carrying handles. The whole fitted to a later Georgian style stand. SIZE: 22-1/2″ h x 16″ l x 10” d. CONDITION: Re-polished surface. all brass original. Inlays intact. Rosewood veneer on lid with areas of lifting, now stabilized. Good overall. 51344-10 (400-800) – Lot 2382
