DUTCH BAROQUE STYLE WALNUT HANGING DISPLAY CABINET.19th century, probably England. The arched covemolded shaped cornice with inverted keystone, and with canted ends above the conforming cabinet fitted with a pair of six-panel astragal glazed doors. The conforming sides with three glass panels all with half-round molded edge on a molded base. The interior fitted with two shaped shelves. SIZE: 42″ h x 44″ w x 11″ d. PROVENANCE: Downeast Maine home, descendant of Knud Rasmussen, famous Danish arctic explorer whose “greatest achievement” was the massive Fifth Thule Expedition (1921–1924) being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Cabinet retains original polished surface. Uppermost glass panel proper right side with horizontal crack. Glass panel proper left door with crack. Backboard has been replaced.
