FLORAL DECORATED PINE BLANKET CHEST.

Early 19th century, possibly Pennsylvania. The rectangular hinged lid painted with a polychrome floral spray within a scrolled cartouche opening to the interior fitted with open till, the lid mounted on long wrought-iron hinges and with applied molded edge. The dovetailed case with pair of stylized polychrome painted flower filled vases centering a fruit cluster, on a half round molded base raised on simple square cut legs. The blanket chest in green paint with red trim and fitted with wrought-iron carrying handles. SIZE: 22″ t x 45″ w x 42″ d. CONDITION: Three board lid with shrinkage crack separation running full length of chest, palette remains vibrant. Normal and expected abrasion to painted surface primarily on edges.
