RARE COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN HAIR JEWELRY AND MEMORIAL WREATH WITH FAMILY PROVENANCE.

Mid 19th century. American. Featuring an oval walnut shadow box, with memorial display centered by multicolored woven human hair flowers surrounded with a horseshoe shaped wreath with colorful chenille flowers. Also with a collection of fine woven hair jewelry, to include; a rare charm bracelet with gold filled attachments featuring a finely crafted birdcage with woven hair interior. A pair of cuff bracelets made with woven and braided hair ropes, having gold filled clasps. A woven hair necklace with drops, having gold filled embellishments. A Lady’s neck chain for holding a watch. 2 pair of earrings and a gold and hair pendant drop and 2 gold and hair bracelet clasps with engraving and pierced work “Cora”. Accompanying this lot is an original receipt from 1876, “To Miss Cora Brown”, “To A. Blocklinger, Dr., Manufacturer Of Hair Jewelry and Human Hair Goods, 313 Washington Street”. Also includes sketches and notes with instructions for the construction of hair jewelry. SIZE: Shadowbox 31″ x 27″ x 4″.
